The Society for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration Inc. (SME)’s 2023 Minexchange has wrapped up! A lot has changed in mining since the gold rush days of early Colorado in the 1890s, which drew cattlemen miners and silver barons who built the west. One thing that has not changed is the Buckhorn Exchange, Denver’s oldest restaurant. The Simem team went full circle from discussing exciting advances and important initiatives for a sustainable future in mining at Minexchange to eating at the same tables in the same room as the founders of our industry did so many years ago.
